Karim Benzema, Alexis Sanchez on their Way?

According to Karim Benzema's team mate at Lyon he is almost a United player. Apparently he is close to signing in a £38 million deal. Expensive but then again no one is going to be cheap for United now everyone knows Ronaldo's £80 million sale to Real Madrid has gone through. And he seems to be the best of the bunch who would almost definitely fit in the Premier League.

Chile’s Alexis Sanchez of Udinese is also on Sir Alex Ferguson's radar apparently. Talk of a move for the little wing wizard is exciting. There have been comparisons between him and Barcelona's Lionel Messi and i can see why.

The only doubt would be as to whether the diminutive star could cope with physical side of the Premiership. I would be willing to take the risk as i think after a couple of years the boy would be up there with the worlds best.

The Star claims £11m-rated Toulouse forward Andre-Pierre Gignac could also a United target although this is the first i have heard of this and i know little of him. The 6ft 1 1/2in tall 23 year old has played 3 times for France but has failed to net yet although he has managed 26 goals in 65 appearances for current club Toulouse. Probably a poor alternative to Benzema who we could do without to be honest. I'd rather Welback and Macheda given their fair share of games instead next season.

Next on the list of rumours is Barcelona's Yaya Toure although i doubt this will happen as he has just singed a new deal at Barce. Talk of a £25 million is probably wide of the mark.

If Benzema and Sanchez come in i'd be a very happy Man Utd fan.

Valencia lands at Man Utd

Fergie finally lands his first signing of the summer in Antonio Valencia, the 23 year old Hunduran International, signed from Wigan Athletic for an undisclosed fee widely believed to be in the region of £15 million mark. It's true to say many a United fan is unsure of their new signing but surely the best thing to do is believe in Fergie?

Hopefully this will be the first of a few signings. I think we are all aware that at least one new striker is needed along with possibly another winger/attacking midfielder and maybe a defensive midfielder.

So here we are with Ronny and Carlos gone and still no one in. With just two weeks till the chaps return for pre-season training it would be nice, and i am sure very advantageous, to get the new recruits bedded in as early as possible.

Wouldn't it be great to see a summer like the one when we purchased Nani, Hargreaves and Anderson early on. Knowing United though it will not all be concluded until late in August.

Late signing at 23:50, 31st August, anyone? I wouldn't be surprised!

So that is it then, Carlos Tevez has decided his future lies elsewhere, and you know what, i'm absolutley ok with that. If he'd wanted to stay and fight for his place i'd have been fine with that too.

If he really loved the club and the fans as he claimed he would have signed and we could have moved on from the saga.

I have no doubt that with the youngsters we have coming through up front and a new striker signing (hopefully) we won't miss him. His goal scoring record hasn't been good enough anyway and the days of 25+ goals from Ronaldo are gone so we need to see some others take that burden on and i don't Tevez would have.

Is Tevez worth it?

There is no doubting that Carlos Tevez has made a huge impact with the fans at OT over the past two seasons and that many a fan would like to see him to make a premanent move to the Reds but is he really worth £25 million and £110,000 per week in wages?

I never liked the way he used the fans and media towards the end of last season to try and get what he wanted from Manchester United and Sir Alex Ferguson. Yes he wants to play all games and yes, even when he doesn't start, he gives 110% on the pitch but i can't help feel he is more heart than skill.

I'd love him to stay as there is no doubt he has the right attitude on the pitch and does have some moments of magic too, but for me £25 million and parity with Rio Ferdinand as the clubs top earner isn't right. He has already been on £90,000 a week - what more does he want? Surely Wayne Rooney is more worthy of such payments?

Valencia to Bayern as Ribery replacement?

It would seem fairly obvious to me that Frank Ribery will be off this summer from Bayern. Whatever they say publically can be taken with a pinch of salt because when the likes of Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid et al come knocking for your star player it is very easy for their heads and hearts to be turned. Bayern are a fine side with a great history but Ribery will surely know he can win more accolades elsewhere. And Bayern will know they can get far more for him than they ever thought.

So this brings me round to the third club who are in contact with Wigan for their winger Antonio Valencia. With rumour mills saying it's Bayern Munich, i wouldn't be at all surprised if it was. They know Ribery is probably off and need a replacement. With Manchester United and Real Madrid both apparently interested in Valencia then he'd be an obvious choice. And if they can do a deal for Valencia with not only Wigan but United i.e. United leave Valencia to Bayern, then they may well give either United a clear run for Ribery. It's a nice thought but it's extremely doubtful it will work like that.
